If it is anything like the Nikon 70-200 2.8, it is fab, You will have try one. Why not hire one for the day before you save up.. So fast to focus, just a pure joy.Sylv.

If you mean the Canon MKII I bought one about a month ago. An incredible lens. The photos seem to take themselves! The IS works very well (I use it mainly for portraits, so it's ideal for exterior portraits when the light starts to fail - it means not having to go to a higher ISO). It's expensive, but in my opinion it was worth every penny. I compare it to my primes, and the quality is better than the 85mm 1.8 (greater sharpness and much better contrast). I know this is fairly obvious, but it is heavy. I personally like the weight of it, but you can start to feel the strain on an extended shoot. Plus it's white. Which I hate.

Being in the Sigma lens forum may have been a clue...
