This person does not exist

I've heard before of computer-generated images. One piece of software is fed genuine images and tries to create new ones from scratch based on what it has 'seen'; a rival program attempts to classify the output as fake or genuine. The two, in competition, can produce some pretty amazing results.

This website produces computer-generated images of people who.. well, the clue is in the name. Most are really convincing, although it's not perfect. Images with a second person part-in and part-out seem to cause problems, as do hands and limbs. There are options for animals too, although those results have more noticeable errors. Still good, I think, as a work-in-progress. (If looking at the animals. refresh the page to get a new one.)
Apart from being devillishly clever, I can see how easily programs like this can be a useful tool in misinformation operations.
