People often have second thoughts about what they just wrote and will go back and modify their post or go back because they spot a spelling mistake. The posts then get automatically marked with:

Depending on the length of the post (and the width of the page you view at) the Last Modified text is often too close to the post and is distracting. People have taken to inserting a full stop to move the Last Modified caption further down. Here is an example

Is that a problem?

It would be great if you guys could change the styling of the Last Modified text so it's automatically lower (like a footnote) perhaps in a lighter gray so it's less distracting kind of like:

Agree with Chris.

When I edit one of my posts, I usually hit the carriage return a few times and then type a full stop so that it separates the "Last modified...." from the last line of my post.

Like this.

Why do we even need this? There is only a limited time to modify one's posts (5 mins?) and I'll bet most modifications are for typos etc.

I don't see it adds any value at all.

I'd rather be without it too. I can see why we have it though. Someone might says something to which someone immediately responds to point out a mistake so the person edits and 'changes history'. Now the respondee looks foolish but the Last Modified timestamp gives a clue to the actual sequence of events.

I reckon that's why the team have it but it's besides the point.

The original style for Last Modified was really bad, the current version was an improvement over that. However it still needs more padding before it as people are still adding it manually.
