To enhance or degrade that is the ?

Cropping helps a lot - though debris near the small tree still distract a little.
These are less distracting converted to B&W - though for me the vignette of the B&W image seems harsh.
The upturned boat pointing to toward the cabin cruiser which seems to have been lightened in post helps the composition.

The crop hide the fact that the horizon is slanting (deliberately or otherwise) and lose the rather ugly dominant railing. But the vignette is too heavy in both nº2 and nº3. The desaturated colour in nº2 is very effective at "hiding" the the pipe etc. and the b&w version is nicely gritty although I may have gone easer on the grain. Carabosse's mod is quite efeective too.
I've done a couple of mods:
--the first in colour using Nik ColorEfex with a bleach bypass filter to accentuate the grunginess, some vignetting and toning down of the rail bottom left

--the second a b&w using the Film noir 1 filter in Nik SilverEfex, slightly modified.

Grateful for comments, James
