Did everyone get up at the crack of dawn this morning to capture photographs of the Transit of Venus?

Here's mine:

Weather predicted cloud so I didn't bother.

What did make me laugh was the program on at 9.30 last night explaining what equipment you need to view it. Like between 10pm and 4.30am you would be able to nip out and buy sun visor specs or a solar filter for the telescope.....

Don't know what all the fuss was about. A tiny black dot crosses the sun. Great. On the telly, they were busy talking it up but it's hardly on the scale of an eclipse. Now that's spectacular.

Anyway, it was cloudy where I was so a bit of a damp squib, really.

In science, they have a lot of historical importance. Measuring things like this has helped confirm some of Einstein's theories. You might not think that such science affects your everyday life but it probably does.
