Had an email from w.morrison at guardian.com regarding photos. It seemed to have a hoax exe file or something that may be doing something nasty to my desktop pc. Unable to email a w.morrison@guardian.com; anyone else experienced this.

I've had three today, two from W. Morrison and one from Trader World. All had zip files attached. All went in the bin!

It's a fake mail for sure. The ones I've seen so far have .exe or .zip attached which puts a backdoor trojan program on your PC and a rootkit derived from Sony's DRM software then hides the offending files.

If you make a random text file in your system folder and then rename it $sys$whatevr.txt if it then vanishes you have the rootkit active on your machine. Cleaning instructions vary from version to version of virus but a good antivirus will identify and direct you too the appropriate solution.

Best thing just delete the mail.

If you click on the www.Guardian.com link you will also find that it is nothing to do with the Guardian newspaper.

Just got home from work and found two emails from "Jamie" and somebody else stating they are from Total Business/Trader. Thought it was dodgy when [1]they said they had been trying to ring re the submitted image (not submitted anything to anybody), and [2]could I check the attached alterations to my image, which is now ready for the February edition....... Durrrr.... the February edition of any magazine would have been on the shelves about 2 weeks ago..
Deleted both then found this thread... glad I was not daft enough to open the attachments.

Thanks David...tried that, file is still visible. Have deleted both e-mails.
