Can we give an award every day now? It used to be once a week but mine seems available to give every day now.
I never noticed any info on a change.

They just don't seem very special then.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you have to.

Yes, you're right and I haven't been. But, I guess if something comes on that makes my heart pound I can. So there you go.
Thanks for all the opinions everyone.

I'm even more fussy now, but it's good to know that if there's a sudden rush of excellent images we can give an award. I certainly won't be dishing them out like sweets, not that anyone's bothered anyway. Wink

Agree wholeheartedly, for me they should represent something very special

I will stick to giving mine weekly so if you receive one you know your image is a bit special, at least in my eyes.

I have given a few this week but certainly wont be giving them out daily unless the images really are excellent.

I wouldn't know an excellent image if I bumped into it, but I do know what I like, and those are the ones that get my award.Grin

My sentiments exactly.

Limiting it to one award a week makes people think much harder about who they should award it to. I know I can just give away one a week but the overall perception of the award has been reduced [by a factor of 7] for me!!!

I suppose this gets around the (minor?) problem of people running duel or more accounts so they can award friends even more often?

As for the case of "special" eh I wouldn't get all hung up about it to be honest. An award should be special because of the person/organisation handing out the award and the general standard that they set with the awards that they hand out. Shifting it from the once a week to the once a day simply expands the base pool that can possibly be awarded - but its still the awarders choice how often they award.

I mean we could follow through and say that once a week is pretty common (that's 52 awards a year!) lets shift it to once a month - for 12 really special photos only.
