Vaccine - Covid 19

14 Jan 2021 5:09PM
My father in law has just had his first, needs to wait until March for the second dose. Said he had to phone for an appointment that when he joined the queue he was no 79 and it took 2 hours to get through. Still not a problem though, he was happy to wait Smile

Briefly, I was phoned by my surgery at about 3pm last Monday, they asked if my wife would like the vaccination too & offered us appointments at 3.15 pm Wednesday . (Yesterday).

We both turned up just before 3.15, volunteers told us where to park, where to enter the building. Sprayed our hands, we sat on chairs for about 2 minutes, everybody was at a distance and all had masks, then escorted to the desk, together, asked the neccessary ID questions and a very nice young nurse explained everything gave us a dose of Pfizer each. Didn't feel anything.
We were escorted to numbered seats & told to wait 15 minutes and somebody would come & tell us when we could leave. We were out by 1535.
Could not have been an easier experience.

Some lovely images of Salisbury cathedral yesterday, what a nice place to have the vaccine!

As long as they've stopped charging for entrance! Wink (I believe it's 5 in Exeter Cathedral)

But well worth it for a photographer from what I have seen. Last year I went to Wells Cathedral to take photos and they wanted a voluntary donation of 5-10. The queue to enter was held up by someone fumbling with their credit cards etc. and I was waved past and promised to pay on the way out. I got my pictures and when leaving stopped at the desk to make my donation. They seemed very pleased and suggested that very few bother to donate afterwards.

Our vaccinations take place at a Fire Station locally but you are asked to park at a nearby car park owned by the local authority and making a lot of extra money by fining the elderly people who arrive and forget to pay or even understand that they had to pay. I have complained to a local Councillor.Sad

So if he had stayed at home with his kids he would not have caught it, is that what you are inferring?
Or is it a political statement?

He hasn't caught the virus - he was alerted by the UK's NHS Covid-19 app that he had been "in close contact with somebody who's tested positive" and so self-isolating.
That doesn't make him a dork.

My point is that a man in his position should adopt a more responsible approach to the situation and practice what he preaches.

What has he done that is against his official recommendations? He is, like all others, allowed to exercise once a day...playing rugger in a park with his kids seems to be innafor...

He has shown a complete lack of judgement. My last words.

I would be happy to criticise if this was clearly shown to be the case as with Cummings. But even the press are suggesting that he was potentially infected (not actually) by being close to someone who is now known to be infected. This apparently occurred at work last week.

Of course, I do not have any other information but would not condemn someone without any evidence whatsoever.

He's most unlikely to have been contacted via T&T because he'd been in a public park. Wink
