I've just bought tickets for Mark Knopfler in Manchester next May. I was going to see him last year, but he had a motorbike accident and couldn't play so the concerts were cancelled. I'm so looking forward to this already!! I've told my 5 year old, but he's not too bothered!

Nice one Debbie. Something to look forward to now for you. Used to love Dire Straits but I don't appear to have played any of their CD's for a long time...

Sultans of Swing album always goes on for spring cleaning, is Mark Knopflers new stuff similar to Dire Straits old stuff? if so i think a purchase is in order.

Has anybody heard his Notting Hillbillies stuff, really mellow.

Hillbillies was good, only one album wasn't it?
I also like Neck & Neck - his duet album with Chet Atkins.

Yes I don't think he ever made a follow up.

Thought so, although he has done other stuff with Guy Fletcher, IIRC several of his movie scores include Guy in the credits.

He definitely won't be making another with Chet, of course :-(

I really love early Dire Straits - very raw and earthy.

Sultans of Swing? gotta drag that one out tonight ... :8-D

Music from the movie Cal is among my favorite Mark Knofler cd's fantastic mellow music.
