I used to have one, many years ago....

Be careful with the gear change...I always carried a spare clutch cable with me because mine used to break at regular intervals....

Watch out in the wet too. Those small tyres don't offer too much grip at the best of times.

Early 1960s had a Vespa GT then a GS, then a BSA Gold Flash 650cc.
Had great fun on them all.
Lost a kneecap though, in an accident not my fault.
Guy got fined 8-50d for careless Driving.

cool,

ive been after one for ages. GS180 would be nice.
i had a 125cc marauder for a while but it was sooper slow as it weighed far too much for a 125cc engine. Flogged it now and hoping to get a full licence next year.

Ive had my eyes on a rusty old Douglas tucked away and forgotten about. may be able to restore it.

When I was at collage the house we rented had a Twyfords Vespa toilet. Used to make us laugh as everyone living in the house was a biker!!

cheers

Well, I've got two. A 1973 Sprint Veloce and a 1981 P150X. I've also got a BMW bike, which I hardly ever use. The P150X is my daily ride. It's ultra-reliable and pulls like a train. I'm a tub of lard and it'll reach 60mph even with me on it - eventually - and plonk along like that all day. I can beat any car away from the lights, and my 6 mile journey through central London takes about 30 minutes from shutting my front door to sitting at my desk. A Vespa is just about the best city transport ever created. Decent weather protection, too. Can't imagine doing really long trips on one though - I went on a rally to Southend in June, which was 100 miles round trip on the Sprint, which Is my pride and joy but takes a bit of 'investment' to ride. Took me about three days to recover. A five hour journey, two-up with camping equipment on the beemer was like sitting in an armchair.
