Video on G9

Hi all, I'm planning on doing a 1.5 hr video shoot with the G9. My read of the manual is that an MP4 set to FHD/20M/30p will run at 20 Mbps, so a three hour shoot is 20 x 60 (1 minute) x 90 minutes = 109000 mbytes = 109 gbytes? Has anyone tried to do something similar? I know that the time limit per file is 30 minutes so I'll have to keep track of that. What about the number of batteries I'll need? I have three. Any advice is welcome.

Ermm.. buy a Sony Handycam...? the 30 (or 29..) minute “limit” I believe derives from standards which say a camera recording video longer than 29/30 minutes attracts a different classification from a “stills” camera to a “video” camera with extra price implications probably...why struggle trying to use a G9 under these conditions..?
Get the right tool for the job...Wink

Thanks but I already spent enough money. This is likely to be a one-off.

I shoot my YouTube videos at FHD/ 20M/ 25fps and that comes in at 680MB per minute. You should get something over 2 hours video per battery.

Personally, I plug the camera into the mains or a power bank when I have a lot of shooting to do but if you can break off to change batteries, it hardly matters.

Of course, you could always buy another 2 G9s and fire one as the other stops Wink

Thanks, I have the grip so I'll get three batteries worth of time, 1st one in the grip, 2nd in the camera, then hot swap out the one in the grip for the third. Two 64G cards should do it then.

If this is an important video then I suggest that you try it all out first - you have nothing to lose with digital and could save you time and trouble when it matters.
