Hi. Another question, then I'll shut up - promise. When I upload files from Elements 14 I can see the CR2 files as images. Now, uploading via Elements 20, the CR2 files appear just as icons. I know there's some sort of setting I can probably change so that I can see the images but I can't remember what it is. Can anyone help?
Cheers.

I don't know Elements but in PS there is a 'Preferences' choice at the bottom of the Edit menu which is where choices such as 'viewing' are made. I would guess it is something similar.

Tks Angie, but I can see the CR2s in photoshop, but not in my files in Windows.

Bridge will probably show image thumbnails that Windows won't show for certain filetypes. Because a lot of programs really just use Windows Explorer when you choose File Open if something won't show in Windows it won't show in File Open.

Programs like ACDSee and Faststone and some Adobe programs (such as Lightroom) generate their own thumbnails.

To see thumbnails for CR2s properly in Windows you need something from Canon or Microsoft.

You might need a certain version of Windows or certain updates and you might find it doesn't work with files from the very latest cameras. The site I went to recognised that I had the facility already so best to search yourself for: Canon raw file thumbnails Windows

Ah, yes. Those codec thingies. Well, it's not essential as i have the jpegs, so don't think I'll bother. Some of my older Canon and Panasonic pics show, but others don't. I can live with it. Thanks for the info peeps. Smile

If you have the latest Windows 10 I have found that File Explorer tends to use the icon as the default setting. If you go to 'View' on the top Bar and then choose 'Large Icons' - this certainly shows my ARW (Sony Raw) files as an image.

Done that. Just makes the icons bigger. Grin

If your W10 is up to date you need the "raw image extension" from the Microsoft Store.
More here.
