Votes and awards
Having just returned to the site after some time away, I thought I should upload some photos to produce a portfolio. I seen to have added the first photo to the gallery by mistake, where it has gathered some votes, a user award and a nice comment and I thank those who took the time to view the photo. I had assumed that photo uploads only went into my portfolio and have obviously made an error. Can I upload photos into my portfolio without them going into the gallery?

When you go to your main profile page, click on the blue 'Upload' button (hidden to the left of 'messages' in the screenshot below) and the choice panel appears giving the option of where to upload to.
