I've done minimal changes to the template system on mine. You can go as far as you like to customise so it becomes a totally unique experience for your visitors

I use Zenfolio , which is also easy to set up with templates and customisation. Zenfolio allows restricted access through either password protected albums, or enabling certain people registered on the site. The albums can also be set to expire after a period of time.

I use Foliopic and found that to be very good for me as I am not the best at making websites this is straight forward and well done in my opinion.
Lots of handy features on there too, check out my site see what you think.

I use moonfruit, like many have mentioned about their hosts, moonfruit also has an intuitive web building interface, webmail, shopping, paypal, and pretty much anything else a tog wants, though the site is not aimed directly towards togs, i find it serves my needs pretty well for now, very pleased with the finished product.
