Quote:Good to see a new participant this week - mammarazzi - but it appears the image may have been taken before the date, so have sent her a pm for clarification.Smile

Unfortunately, Joannes's image was taken before the date, but hopefully she will have another entry...

I don't know whether it is possible or not, but just a special tag like black and white challenge in an image at the time of uploading the same to the main gallery can give entrance to the week's competition...it will be open to all irrespective of the group members, and non compliance to the rules of the group or images not according to the theme of that week will disqualify the entry...

Thanks for the suggestion, Somnath, but that would mean having entries both in the weekly thread and in the galleries making it very difficult to judge. The reason for the weekly thread is to have all entries gathered in one place.

A very long period as well - I've been in this job for 31 or 32 years - Ive lost track!

I did 42yrs 1977 to 2019 on the same chemical plant, and loved it.
From 14yrs old all I even wanted to do was work in a Laboratory and at 16yrs old I started with 2yrs at ICI ('75-'77) then 42yrs at Monsanto/BASF/Ineos was a wonderful career.

Having said that - retirement is better.

Triptych uploaded. Since this is a composite, there is no EXIF data to reap, which I didn't think about till after posting. So here are edited highlights from one of the frames, all shot today with the same lighting and setup within about 5 minute window.

I left the Focus Distance, Circle of Confusion, Depth of Field, Field of View and Hyperfocal distance because I've not noticed them before in the exif, and it may be interesting I think to see them, though probably more so for the macro challenge. Nice that Olympus include them, or bother to work them out.

I kept the exif by extending the canvas size of the centre image in photoshop to give enough space to paste the other two into. This keeps the exif data for at least one of the images.

I was thinking of a different style of triptych at first but settled on a standard presentation. Smile

Exif or not, there's not much time left to get your triptych sorted for the challenge.

This week's entry is now entered. I am not sure if I have nailed it, or screwed it up - look at the photo and you'll get it...Wink
Some of the many boxes of these items found while sorting out my workroom. There are many, many more...you can never have too many nails and screws...

philstan, a little disappointed that there is no Ilford Pan F Plus, my choice for B&W film from way back Smile

Does anyone actually shoot on B&W film for this challenge then scan the negative ?

I have a film camera I was given a couple of years ago. Keep meaning to give it a whirl. But I hesitate because I don't have the processing equipment and don't know where I'd go to get it done well by a pro. And sending it away for processing would make the timescales almost impossible for me for this challenge.

It is definitely up there on my 'to do' list though for more general photography. Maybe this summer... 😊

"So your challenge this week is to photograph EMPTINESS"

Might need to get a probe lens and check this inside of my head Smile
