Weekly IL Macro Challenge ending 8pm Sun. 14th Feb. 2021 - Ingredients

Continuing the theme of getting back to our macro roots, I'd like to see some shots of food ingredients; so close you can see the structure and texture of the subject. So this is not food photography but a chance to dig out those old bellows or extension tubes and get right into the molecules* . Food ingredients can include anything you fancy that can end up in a meal, from herbs and spices to vegetables or steaks or fish, as long as it's at 1:1 or better. (* slight exaggerationSmile)

The cinnamon stick below was a bit of a rush job with the camera balanced on some old newspaper and a jam jar lid rather than a tripod but it gives an idea.

1. The challenge is just for fun.
3. The image must be uploaded in a comment in this thread by 8pm (UK time) on the following Sunday
4. Only one upload per member
5. The person who hosts is the judge for that week's challenge and the judge’s decision is final
6. The winner gets to create, run and judge the challenge for the following week
7. Photos in the thread, no links.
8. For new participants - if you win, you will have to set and judge the next week's challenge.
9. Be careful not to make too much mess.

Dont have tubes or bellows so mine will have to be the best I can get with a straight macro lens!

Cheese (Wensledale), Wholemeal Bread and Brown Sauce - the sandwich made in heaven. Well OK our kitchen.
Then suitably eaten.

Raw file through DxO the Nik Colour for a lens blur filter and boarder.

A bit of broccoli...not my favourite ingredient in a meal, but we do eat a fair bit of it as we prefer it (slightly) to cabbage or sprouts...

Noodles, seasoning powder & Chilli Flakes

Running out of time today so a "Macro" of a packet of Noodles, Chicken flavour seasoning powder and added Chilli flakes.

A lovely mix of flavours this week, thanks to all who contributed:

Dave R - as you say, the perfect sandwich and the only disappointment is that HP Sauce is now made in the Netherlands. How did that happen? Your sauce may have been a more local proper one (other sauces are available).

David (imagery only) - a simple but effective shot, as is:

Dave (B&T) - inverse lighting scheme from David's peppercorn and again very effective, and love the acronym

Phil - nice use of grain and love the backlight. I will never see rice in the same way again - they're like little alien eggs

Malc - never seen such amazing mini-sprouts, but then I've never looked that closely at broccoli

Pete - I see cats ... the ones at the back with their little ears sticking up are just like our cat. Nice shot

Eddie - instant photography used to be Polaroids, now you just add water .. chilli flakes were a good addition

Well, very hard to choose a winner as there are some amazing views of things that I have never seen before. Everyone deserves to win but there can only be one ... Malc, your study of broccoli is the most amazing of this week's amazing photos so the challenge is yours for next week.

Thanks all, I really enjoyed looking at these.
