Well, this week I'm jumping on the Olympic bandwagon and urging you all to go for gold -- anything made of gold or something that looks like gold. Watch out for those highlights!

The Rules are as follows:

1. The challenge is just for fun.
2. All images must be taken after the theme is announced.
3. All images must be uploaded by 8 pm on Sunday 12th August in the Weekly Macro Challenge group photo area.
4. Only one upload per member.
5. Please feel free to comment on the entries once judging is complete.
6. The person who hosts is the judge for that week challenge and the judge’s decision is final.
7. The winner gets to create, run and judge the challenge for the following week.
8. Have fun

I'm a newbie, thought I would give this a go with a field of golden barley.

Just back from a few days away and some really nice entries already. Two days to go, so still time to get that gold!

Oh my goodness, that was really hard.

By the merest whisker, the winner is Stuart with Kodak Gold. Just a hint of shadow, perfectly sharp, very well lit and exposed and somehow compelling in its simplicity.

The standard this week has been outstanding. I'll post some comments shortly. In the meantime over to you, Stuart, for the next challenge.

Well done, Stuart- gold number 30! Look forward to your challenge.

Thanks for hosting, Steve. A good challenge: my poor addled brain was stymied for a while.

Regards to you both,

Cheers Steve for your kind comments and well done to all who contributed. As I'm thoroughly engrossed in the Olympic closing ceremony I'll post the new challenge tomorrow morning.

Regards, Stuart
