I would presume you mean what camera lens would be best to shoot landscape scenes of the lake and islands. Then you'd want a landscape lens or wide angle. You can go do the research yourself. Review the Nikon lenses classified as landscape lenses, read the reviews on them, see if you could rent a few of your best choices, and then decide for yourself. You will enjoy the search and its photographic activity much more than simply asking for a recommendation from someone. And, along the way you may learn much more than you had expected. Enjoy your adventure. Wink

Seems an odd sort of a question, unless I'm missing something, but I would suggest maybe use the same one you would use to photograph any other landscape. Worth a try, at least.

I use my 18-200mm lens.
Wide angle for Cat Bells or telephoto for looking down towards Borrowdale

Or search through the gallery photographs of Derwentwater and see what focal length other people have used.
It also gives you an idea of the sort of views you might like.

that question is wide-open, pardon the lens pun.....

it depends what you are into, wide-angle if you are hoping to get the full span of the reservoir, telephoto if you are getting the wildlife on the water, or anything in between if you want a mixture

I was in the Lake District a few weeks ago and stayed near Derwentwater; my 24-120 got a lot of use.
