What A Great Feeling!

I use a Wacom graphics tablet which is best operated with a USB micro plug connection. Unfortunately the USB cable got trapped and twisted and wouldn't function. So I needed a new cable. No problem, I have plenty of spares. Except Wacom use a heavily recessed plug mounted at 90° to the cable. The recess is so narrow and long that no normal USB plug will push into it and reach the connection. And Wacom don't supply replacement cables. So there's a choice - a new tablet or a 3rd party replacement for £9.99 but which has several comments saying it doesn't fit.
So I settled down for 20 minutes with a razor blade and in best boy scout fashion whittled down the plug surround, offering it up until it was wafer thin but just about slid down the tunnel and connected! It ain't pretty - but it works!
It's not that I can't affords a new tablet or a cable, it's that I just love putting one over on these big companies. Especially when the boot is so often on the other foot. Woohoo!

Totally agree...I see it as a challenge...recently our company mail weighing scales “packed up” ...a dodgy wire connection to a tiny plug connection supplying power...a bit of fettling, with resin coating, restored it to it’s full glory... “up yours” came to mind....
