I was in the National Museum of the American Indian in New York a few years ago (or the Smithsonian Institute for the American Indian as it was then called).
They had a display of antique Indian clothing. You could take photos, but not using flash (and it was WAY too dark to shoot handheld, this is in the days where ISO 200 was the best usable speed on digital).
But they did have some you could photograph using flash, as they were behind glass, so I got lots of photos of the reflection of my flash
