What camera settings do you change first?

I get all the fn buttons sorted first, then have a look through the menus for other changes than need sorting.
Fuji have a neat thing where using the X-Acquire app, you can save and restore your camera settings. Useful if something gets changed when doing a firmware update...this happaened to me once, all settings were reset to defaults...

Settings such as sharpness, colour, noise reduction are only relevant to JPEG's which I do not use so do not set. My Raw files will be rendered in LR using a bespoke calibrated profile which LR selects automatically based on my Camera's S/N.
For my most recent camera the main settings were to set to Raw, set the GPS to be on only when the camera is on, set up back button focussing etc.

I always set the camera to Raw mode and Adobe RGB. Single point focus (upper middle). Noise reduction, highlight priority etc. etc all set to off.
Colour settings are set to Standard, +2 sharpening, -2 contrast to give a better histogram that's reflects the Raw file better. The sharpening is just to make the image preview more pleasing when doing an initial, quick preview on the computer.
In video mode, all setting set to their lowest value, especially sharpening.

Max Raw size + medium Jpg ( the 2nd file is a backup)
Max auto ISO get knocked upwards a bit.
Picture Style set to Standard so the LCD images look punchy ( this only affects JPGS)
AF set to AI servo tracking Mode
Drive to one shot.
Exposure mode to Evaluative
Exposure comp -1/3 as a starting point ( to avoid clipping)
Flash comp to -1/3
WB stays at auto.
As shooting raw most stuff is adjustable.

I start on tab 1, page 1 of the camera's menu system..... and Sony has millions of options ! ... but I skip video & flash

Quote:I go for colour space, exif data, set to shoot raw and then go for setting max iso etc
Why do you set the colour space in your camera, if you use Raw. The colour space will be set in the Raw converter.
I actually set mine to Adobe RGB even though I only use Raw. My reason is that if I did for some reason decide to take some JPEGs (unlikely) then I would not have to remember to change this.
