What do you do with your old Compact Flash cards?

Hi Folks,
What do people do with their old compact flash cards?
I used to have 3 Canon cameras that all used compact flash cards but I've gradually migrated to SD cards on my newer cameras.
I was having a bit of a clear out and found that I have many CF cards ranging in size and speed from 64 MB up to 2 GB in size and from 20x to 60x in speed.
So I was thinking their must be a lot of people in the same position and wondered if anyone had come up with some innovative usage.
Also I suppose there might well be some photographers around still using CF cards so I'd rather give them away than just bin them.
Regards.

Make them into a decoration for the Christmas tree. Smile

I'm sure there would be many new, young photographers, at camera clubs around the country, who don't have a lot of money who would be very grateful for the donation of a extra CF card. No suppose about it, there are plenty of cameras using CF cards that are still doing stalwart service.
I'm sure a little bit of Christmas spirit (not alcoholic) would be very welcome.

I don't know what you mean by

Both my D4s and D810 use CF cards, you can't get much newer than these

Hi Folks,
Thanks for your responses.
JR, I should have been clearer, I meant people still using old cameras.
Willpower, good idea about the schools/clubs.
Regards.

The bigger cards could be used as storage/back-up, as long as you remember to keep a card reader!
Good idea to donate them to youngsters etc, I have loads I'd be willing to donate to a good cause

I don't often agree with JR1's posts but this is one very good suggestion.

And he's right about current cameras still using the cards. Though a small capacity card won't go far, it can still be useful.

When I bought my first Nikon D1 in 2001, I had to buy a CF card - I still have it, it was a 256MB card and cost the huge sum of 175, ( I kid you not ! ), now I use several 8GB cards which cost about 20 each from Comet in their closing down sale !

How times have changed............Grin

Indeed, I think I paid 400 ish for 1gb Microdrives.

With a lot of schools I see using cameras of the like of the Nikon D200, I would imagine they would snap up any CF cards they could lay their hands on.

I'd forgotten those kinds of prices....! (and card sizes...) I look forward to similar "progress" with SSD devices...think it's beginning...Smile

Then "they" will invent the next fastest must-have...!

I use a 40D and have no intention of upgrading until I have to.
Very difficult to find CF cards to buy now.

Probably a solution would be to empty the data and put them on eBlag.
