Canon 28-70 (old version) f2.8L is my favourite, had it about 13 years, love it.

Quote: I have no idea what the vignetting will be like

Doesn't matter. So long as people believe you meant it to be vignetted, it makes you an artist.

Django Rheinhardt, the jazz guitar player said that if he made a mistake, he would make it twice more during a tune, which convinced all the listeners that it was not a mistake but what he meant to play. What was funny was that people copying his stuff would copy the wrong notes too.

50mm primes tend to be my standard on both digital and film. If I'm going away on holiday, I tend to take an 18-55mm zoom with me. More for 'just in case' rather than anything else.

Quote:I've just bought a used 50mm f1.8 Nikkor
Still think it's a great addition to any outfit

I have a Nikkor 50mm f1.4D, a great lens, which I bought prior to my 17-55 f2.8 DX. I really like the 17-55, but there are occasions when the faster f1.4 prime just can't be beat!
