What's up, WhatsApp?

I've been trying to download WhatsApp Messenger to my android 'phone (from the Google Playstore) and when I hit "Install" I keep getting the message "Waiting for wifi.....", implying there's no wifi connection, and that I need to use my mobile data for the download which could incur a charge. There's nothing wrong with my wifi/phone connection.

I spoke to my service provider tech support and the 'technician' hadn't even heard of my 'phone (Lenovo a1010: OK, so it's old skool) so he was no use.

Anyone any thoughts?

Minimum requirements for WhatsApp is Android OS 4.0.3 - has your phone that version or later?

Thanks Malc. Just checked - it's 5.1.

Can't understand the problem if you have wifi connection but it may just be worth checking the settings in the Play Store. Go to Play Store > Menu > Settings > App download preference and select Over Any Network

Or perhaps restart the phone.... Wink

Didn't try that Geoff, because for some inexplicable reason the app has now been installed on the Nth try. All seems to be OK, but of course I've still to try it.....

Thanks again to you and Malc for replying to my post.
