What's wrong with my film camera?

Quote:The answer is to look at the negatives. If the discolouration/lightbleed extends across the perforation area then it is a light leak. If it is only on the image then my bet is that the shutter is slowing down.Grin

Most who have examined the inside of a film camera back have seen that the sprocket holes run freely outside the area of the film gate, with the pressure plate against them. The sprocket areass are protected from most though not all sources of light leakage.
The straight lines showing exposure differences of several stops strongly indicates a significant sticking shutter problem,

Light leak.
The amount of 'damage' is probably pro-rata to the length of time between shots.
Doesn't happen indoors cause there ain't enough light?
