Where is the D6 ?

Hi all I am hoping that Nikon put the 60MP sensor in the D6 and I get a SH one when I retire, perhaps Nikon cameras are so good, the refurbished ones are as good as new, well nearly, I have a D4, refurbished, bit of a bashed up looking cam, but love it to bits and getting great shots over any other cam I have had. And the 500mm F5.6 prime....Thoughts anyone. ?

Nikon and Canon normally announce top end pro bodies in the late autumn of the year before the summer olympics are held, so if this trend continues we should see an announcement before the year end
These products are normally on a 4 year cycle and I suspect that they will be mirrorslappers for now however it doesn’t stop a large megapixel mirror less camera being produced by either manufacturer

No at that level it’s more a matter of what’s technically possible with EVF quality/lag, battery consumption/life and durability
If a mirror less flagship was to be announced, it would probably be alongside a mirror slapper as I doubt pros would risk major change prior to olympics and I still think we are at least one generation away at this level with both Canon and Nikon
Sony A9 ll might be interesting pointer if announced this autumn

The single-digit Nikons seem to have been designed for photo-journalists where something around 20Megapixel is more than enough. Maybe the Z8 will have 60 or 80 Megapixels! How are sales of the D5 holding up now that cheaper mirrorless cameras are available?

Yes even with the lower Pixels of the D4 I still get great in flight Mallards from a distance, better than the D500 I sold to get the SH D4, fast as they are, with the 200/500 it is the battery time and the build, and the way the D4 feels in my hand, and so quick to change the settings too with the second screen, solid state electrics it is just the buttons that are tatty on mine...But I still want another D500 instead of the D7100.
