Which replacement power supply ?

Hi all, my computer power supply, ancient, like both my computer and myself, has died. I've extracted it and need a replacement .
the computer was cobbled up by a local company years ago but they no longer exist.
The power supply is 1050W, which looking at replacements seems to be huge by comparison to most. It may well be the people who built it used just what was to hand at the time!
The system is
Intel core Quad CPU @ 2.66GHZ
Video adaptor ATI Radon hd 4600
Motherboard Gig Tech G31M E S2L
With 4 GB ram
Two internal hard drives
A DVD player.
Can any of you clever souls out there give me a guide to the size of power supply I would need?
If anyone can help I would be really grateful,
Thank you.
Dave.

Thank you, I will see what. I can find online, it's hard using just my phone!
my original was an alphapower atx 1050 and probably quite old.
thanks again.

Have you tried a "wanted" post in your local Freecycle?

Many folk have ancient and unwanted computers in the shed or garage.
one of the problems with a freecycle is the components inside the psu, the capacitors lose their capacity over time, swell up and destroy themselves through their own personal pressure valve on top and thats probably what has gone, you can pick up a 750W psu or even 600W for 30 on amazon. there are loads at 50-100 which can handle a bit more of a power spike but they are not worth it for your pc

hope this helps

Thanks everyone.Smile
Darren, yes the capacitors have blown in the power pack. I Have had a quick look on Amazon on my phone but find it much easier on a big screen so will borrow an i pad and see what I can get.
Thanks again for the help, it's good this EPZ isn't it. I even won the Saturday trees competition!GrinGrinGrin
