Who is really running the country?

I've come to the conclusion that the UK is every bit as corrupt as Nigeria or Afghanistan but it's considerably more subtle.
In Iceland, the errant bankers were sent to jail. Here, weren't a few banks fined as companies and the guilty individuals allowed to get off scot-free?
We can hardly blame a CEO for being corrupt when they get a massive bonus if they don't get caught and the company pays a modest fine when they do!

Money. Companies that are richest have the most power and think they can do as they please. All the new giants treat workers with no respect and at the same time use sleigh of hand to avoid paying tax. They make more money than some countries gnp, that level of monetary power is a cause for concern.
Politicians seem to live on another planet and are only interested in their own survival (and making money out of it)

I've probably mentioned this before but Roy Greenslade, a journalist who specialised in Intelligence matters, stated that there are people who are agents have links with the likes of MI5 and MI6 in virtually every mainstream media outlet.
My impression is that they have completely taken over in the BBC and the Guardian.
Ironically, many people see both these media outlets as being left-wing.
They may employ some leftish reporters as a token gesture but these 'leftish' reporters still have to work within the limits set out by their elitist masters.
These are exciting times but also very scary times.
I'm sure the world has always been a crazy place but it feels to me that it is becoming increasingly dysfunctional and dangerous.
At least, we've never had it so good with hobbies like digita photography and the plentiful availability of wonderful guitars and amps for budding musicians .
I find photography and music are great for transporting myself out of the madness of current affairs, wars and politics.
