Don't know. Never rationalised the issue; I just don't like it. End of.......

I can always think of lots of exceptions if I say I don't like a genre (Witchita Lineman being a decent instance in this case). But if someone asked me if I wanted an all expenses paid trip to a C&W festival in Tenesee, I would have to politely demur. Because most of it is ****.

...and the house burns down, the wife leaves him, (bit harsh..) his marijuana crop dies, his moonshine still blows up, but he manages to get to a bar and tell everyone...

Nothing against the music per se - just hate the noise it makes.

The thing about the two Sandy Posey songs (just for example) is that they made it into the US and UK "normal" charts, not just the country charts. Both got to number 12 in America, despite sentiments which, even at the time, were hardly positive for women.

So clearly some country music has mainstream appeal.
