Why only 1 photo upload per day?

I think we should debate the pros and cons of uploading more than one photo each per day, over the years the numbers of photos being uploaded must have dropped by a significant number, I can remember when it was nearly impossible to view all the images in one day, its very easy now.
I appreciate that maybe we will have the same number of contributing photographers but surely some more diverse (less safe) images could make a difference.
I select what I upload quite carefully but would love to throw in the occasional curve ball as a test to see what the reaction would be.
Anyway, enough from me, what are your thoughts?

Multiple to portfolio and one per day to gallery seems OK to me.
I manage to take a look at most if not all as is.

This gets discussed at regular intervals...
The reason is that the one-a-day rule gives everyone a fair chance of being seen while their image is still on the first page of uploads. If multi-uploads were allowed there would be members who would flood the galleries with their images - and yes, there are such members - I have seen it on other forums.

As for more diverse images, that is up to the contributors to the galleries to do something about. They choose which images to upload, after all.

Not sure what exactly you have in mind with 'less safe'. Do you mean nude and glamour? If so, we pride ourselves on being a family-friendly site, without tacky 'wife-next-door' or 'open leg' images.

The same applies to 'curve ball' to test reaction - what exactly do you have in mind?

Not nude/glamour, some images where you feel it sort of works but some other opinions could help, maybe a different process or crop?
I quite like some of the 'way out' arty type images you see on here from time to time but I feel it would 'waste' my normal upload.
I was not thinking of masses of images per day, maybe just 2 or 3?

You can always upload to the Critique Gallery if you want opinions. Contrary to popular belief, anyone can comment on images uploaded there, so if you ask directly for feedback there, you are bound to get some from the critique team and possibly others.
As for arty images being a waste of an upload, you'll never know unless you try. There are a few members who are very good at certain arty genres and get good responses.

Due to a recent PS update I made the **** up of saving files in pro photo rgb, so the uploaded files looked a bit strange, I took me a little while to figure out what I had done wrong.

So I found you really only get two attempts to upload a day, your not permitted to try for a third time even if the uploaded images are quickly removed, odd.

Would be handy if the preview window shows you exactly how the image will look when uploaded.

If you want to upload more than one version of your photo, why not upload the others as 'Versions'? Smile

Paul, I upload to portfolio first, 100 per month. Then after I've checked, or added variations, add to gallery from the portfolio page.

The one-a-day limit, (and the limit on two attempts at uploading, although that has caught me out a couple of times), is a major plus for me. It imposes a discipline, a structure, makes me think carefully about what I am uploading. And it keeps the Gallery to manageable proportions, so that I can easily view everything uploaded there.
So I am much more likely to see the more adventurous work.

I too think the one-a-day limit is a plus for the gallery. If the number of photographers viewing the gallery is the same, then the more adventurous images will actually reach the wider audience that they need. When I first joined EPZ in 2015, it seemed that images only received comments etc after the first two hours. Now, I get comments on my photographs for about a day.

As a personal preference, I would rather be presented with less images, and have time to give each image the attention it deserves.(Again something that helps images outside the main stream.) As pointed out above, if the photographer really cannot decide between images, then versions are available.

I agree with you about less number of daily upload...it is something that the authority concerned should take in consideration and the best way to raise the graph is to study the leading photography sites in these days & to compare with them, the drawbacks, if any, we have or those unique features that may attract huge traffic like tie up with stock photography sites or providing professional websites like features for the paid members or allowing paid members giving link to their websites below their uploaded images or the like...

The photo of the year is a good concept in this regard that involved the members in general to contribute in some way or the other, I hope that can bring back many good photographers who were regular here once...

One upload per day or seven upload per week hears almost same but there is a lot of difference if you think it...

Yes but why a limit on the attempts, that's just silly if nothing is going anywhere anyway (as in my case)

And this only came about because the preview you get does not always show you what is going to appear in the gallery.
