Terry Boyd Longley and Myself are going to take a trip on the River (Great Stour near to Canterbury) over the first weekend in April. Either the Saturday or the Sunday. Anyone interested in coming along, let me know. Weather permitting, it will be a dingy trip from Grove Ferry, up river to Fordwich passing Westbere Lakes on the way. Lunch at the Fordwich Arms, and back to Grove. This is some 5 miles of river, and the lakes are a wetland reserve. Probably be able to accomodate 6 to 10 depending on interest.
There is a diversity of wild birds along the river including all the more common spiecies, and I can almost guarantee that you will see a Kingfisher, although getting one on film is no so easy!
If the weather turns out bad, we can go down river in a couple of bigger boats. Still nice but not quite so much wildlife.
Post on here first if you are interested.

I should add that the boats will have experienced skippers on board, so no one will have to worry about that side of the trip. They are volunteers (well, pressganged volunteers) so there will not be a charge for this!

You will be a very welcome addition Mike.
Ian I can't believe that Mike is the only one to reply so far.

Hi Steve. Times have not been decided as yet, nor even which of the two days! The weekend is a favorable one tide wise, which is why we have chosen it. Give me an idea of what time you would like.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that Bird photography is not obligatory! It is a very beautiful part of the river and well worth the trip for less specialised shots.

Ian - problem is I am around 3 hours away assuming a straight run and I am not great at getting away early. I do not want to delay you as I guess the early morning is the best time. Better count me out this time . - steve
