A Child's War

By Sezz
Thank you for your support on the boat series but now for something different. Back to the epz meet last month at Chatham Historic Dockyard - the event was 'Salute To The 40's'

It must of been pretty frightening and scary to be a child evacuee, sent away from your parents/family and all that you hold close to you, some never came home Sad

As always I thank you for your time, your thoughts/comments are very welcome!

Regards - Sarah J x

Lovely capture and I would think there are many viewers thinking back to their short trousers, blazer and cap!! GrinGrin (including me). Not totally authentic though - my knees were always scraped!

Lovely image - and what a great way to teach these youngsters about their country's history - they'll remember this, and understand it, far more than if they'd just been taught in the classroom.

I missed being evacuated from the streets of London during the WW11 bombings Sarah (I arrived later) but my eldest brother did. He got sent to a farm in Cornwall with a number placed around this head just like this. For many years after the WW11 ended he went back to Cornwall and spent time with the lovely people who looked after him during his childhood days back then. The choice of mono works a treat and describes that moment in time superbly.

Top Marks.

Your comment and lovely shot takes me back a good few years Sarah. Evacuee I was and, yes, scary it was.
