The Last Post

By MrsS
Good Morning All!

Halfway through the week already! Better start getting prepared for school on Monday! Wink

When we went to Spurn last year, and I saw the groynes there, I had this image in my mind (had the title first, if I'm honest and had to find the shot to fit it!) Smile

Not too sure if it works, and whether I should have removed the reflection of the ship from the edge of the water. I know that the ship is blown due to being white and taking the full hit from the sun, but it does make it stand out and for me, adds just a little bit of interest.

As always, Thanks for looking, and I appreciate your comments Smile

Off to play at Mum's taxi and try out some retail therapy so I'll catch you all later. Smile

Cheers!
Fran x

Wonderful Fran, love the composition, light, textures in the sand and how you've captured that wave just as it is cresting. I do think that the image would benefit with the removal of the ship.I find it a bit distracting IMHO.

I so like the pattern that the outgoing tide has created around your last post.
I also like the car ferry on the horizon....I am used to seeing these pass by our windows every day, so it doesn't bother me at all.
Some people have cars, we have boats, ships, liners, trawlers & car ferries......
Beautiful colours you have captured.

Hi All. Just back from a touch of retail therapy - - - Thanks for all your votes and comments Smile

Roy - - I was going to get up close and personal, but I liked the lead in from the bottom right Smile

Some lovely detail in there, particularly that pattern in the sand,
for me though i think there is a little too much sky and the stronger image is the bottom square with the sky clipped to just above that lovely cloud,
hope you dont mind the suggestion, its nice work anyway just a thought. have a look see what you think,
it concentrates the attention on that superb breaking wave and its diagonal juxtaposition with the weathered post.
regards,
Phil

Thanks Roy - - must do that next time Smile

Thanks Phil, I did look at that crop, but wanted to keep some blue in there and quite liked the horizon being on the top third - - perhaps I should've broken the rules for once Tongue

Hi Fran. I'd dump the boat. I don't think it needs to be there. The groyne is a superb focal point and I think the boat detracts from it slightly.
Good image, could be a corker!!

Gorgeous light and a sweet, simple subject. I prefer the first version, Fran - it allows the blue sky the attention it deserves.

V3 for me, nicely minimal. I don't think I saw a lone (or last!) post when I was there, but the tide was fully in! Smile
