Anyone interested in a Portsmouth / South Coast meeting to take some pinhole images to submit as part of World Pinhole Day on 25 April 2010?
Old Portsmouth / Spinnaker Tower or Arundel Castle have all been suggested.
Confirmed meeting point - Public Car Park opposite Southsea Hovercraft Terminal, Clarence Esplanade Southsea Portsmouth PO5 3AD.
Film or digital submissions welcome - but they have to be taken on 25 April 2010.
This is the Tenth Anniversary of the event - so it should be good fun and a great day out.
As a venue I was thinking of Arundel Castle as it has so much to offer - old buildings, trees, gardens and we had such a great time there recently on an epz August forum meet organised by Darren.
There is an entry fee to the Castle and photos are not permitted in all areas for obvious security reasons - the Castle is lived in and could be a prime target with all the valuables inside. However - there are some great images to be had outside anyway.
There are also some great photo opportunities in Arundel itself - buildings and market area alone.
There is a superb old camera shop in the town centre which simply drags money from the wallet - be warned of its magical powers to grab your pocket money and more, without hesitation.
If anyone has another location in mind - please feel free to discuss it in the forum thread.
I have some 35mm pinhole cameras which anyone could borrow on the day if you want to try some pinhole film work. Nothing special - but they work! Just the body and a silver foil "lens" with a hole in it! Very basic and great fun.
Aperture circa f186 - staggering depth of field - nothing to focus - long exposure times - plenty of help and advice available - this is how photography used to be.
Last year a policeman stopped me to ask why I was pointing a camera at buildings without a lens. We had a great chat and he was really interested in what I was doing - so respect to the police on that one.
Between us we can discuss how to use pinhole cameras and exposure times on the forum and also on the day.
Lots of tips, advice, inspiration and work from previous years on the official web site
Tenth Annual World Pinhole Day
If you want to have some photo fun with pinhole work and be part of the 10th World Pinhole Day please come along and join in the fun.
