I've been typing combinations of words into google and getting nothing appropriate, so lets try on here Smile

What I want is....

my 580EX2 on camera, in ETTL mode AND my little remote trigger also on camera to trigger a second strobe on a light stand.

For this I need 2 hot-shoes - as my trigger does not have a flash synch port. It HAS to sit on a hotshoe.

Does this kinda thing exist ?

Or do I need a new trigger that takes the Flash Synch signal instead?

It would be easier just to get a TTL release cable that fits hotshoe and has a hotshoe ontop of itself.

Or just use the sync port on your camera for the slave?

This would do it I think Dual Hot Shoe leads. You'd also need a dual shoe bracket.

Sad

That looks an option Pete

I've got this book on weddings called "Captured by the Light" by David A Ziser, and this config is what he uses at a lot of weddings. ETTL on camera, assistant with manual off camera flash and brolly.

One of the best books I've ever read by the way

I knew a lot of it already from experience, but bouncing flash off the floor... pretty cool. Also, Cheating Synch Speed is cool

What about an hotshoe to PC Sync adapter ? Then just mount your trigger on the adapter with a lead to the sync port.

Something like this :-

You lose the TTL for your on camera flash then

No just tried it.

580 EX on hotshoe - in ETTL

Trigger mounted on adapter - adapter plugged into PC Sync - still fires remote mounted on adapter. (Don't mount the adapter on the hotshoe, leave it loose)

cool - will buy it now for that money Wink

I just think in a wedding, having an on camera flash and optional off camera flash is a real bonus

Cool
