Hi JD, very nice! After all the study'n I did yesterday I now know quartz is a mineralBlush. I never put much thought into rocks but some amazing features, shapes and colours appear once a little magnification is applied.

Thanks, Reg. I wasn't going to enter, but your photo of your wife's mineral gave me an incentive to do do. I also thought that there had better be at least one entry to keep the group going. There are no entries in the B&W challenge group yet, but quite often there is a last minute surge.
This particular piece of quartz is small, and a bit worn. I used to collect rocks and minerals, but had to throw them away when we moved house.

My wife is a rock lover also, I once carried a knappsack (i thought was full of beer) on a hike up a very steep mountain but i was unaware that she had emptied it and went rock pickin lol. I was a little dissapointed when it was time for cold one and it was a bag of rocks Sad lol

Nice crystals, Jack. They are really difficult to capture - I gave up!

Thanks for your comment on my pic too Smile

My nine year old is showing an interest in geology - better check my rucksack on the next walk and make sure he doesn't replace the camera with rocks Tongue
