To sleep, perchance to dream...

By mrswoolybill
To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil...

I wanted to use very shallow depth of field to convey nightmare, menace. I see this as the face pressed against the window, trying to get in. I'm not sure if it's worked.
Black & white conversion, with a hint of tint. It gives much the same tones as the original, but more evenly.
Thanks for looking,

I like your quote from the 'Dead Parrot Sketch' WinkGrin. The face is well captured but does look more sad than frightening.

I think it works so well, the framing is what I like most. Also goes well with the poem and to me it looks frightened, if not frightening.

Interesting. I see this as the face pressed against the window, peering in, trying to get in.

I'm interested that Dave thinks he looks sad - I can see that too now, although I'd thought him scary to start with. It's all in the imagination.

It works for me Moira, you've captured it well.

Well as to your first point I'll let you know tomorrow morning Moira.

Shakespeare had a way with words and you have a way with that camera.

Beautiful yet haunting prose, supported by a rather macabre image, however wonderfully worked.

looks sad to me...and given the rain we're having at the moment I don't blame him for pressing his nose against a window to get in!! GrinGrin

The tight crop/close up and tones worked well and I could really feel his faces presses against the window.

A bit scary this - especially opening on my default setting of View Large! Wink A great shot, Moira, with lots of detail, and yes, it does look like the face is squashed up against a window Smile

I thought i saw her her in Tesco this morning but I could be wrong. An interesting close up and I am not sure whether it is tinted or just the weathering on the stone.

apologies for not commenting earlier Moira but I simply ran out of time, club night and I had to dash - out most of today so you can imagine things got pretty desperate - the picture presented today shows good tones and textures and is well sharp. I rather like the treatment you have used and prefer it to some of the other similar shots you have shared.
