In my opinion, this is a textbook example of how to photograph seascapes.

I can see details in both the highlight and the shadows, so I reckon the exposure is on the button. Everything in the photograph looks sharp to me, so I think there can't be much wrong with the focussing, either. And what better lighting can there be than a sunset?

As I think this is a textbook example, in my opinion, the rules of composition have been used in the photograph. For example, the horizon has been placed in the frame according to The Rule Of Thirds. The curve of the beach leads the eyes of the viewer past the foreground interest into the frame, adding a sense of depth, necessary to such photographs. The diagonal lines of the cloud formation reinforces this impression.

Well taken!

Great composition and beautiful colours.
It seems you have another big fan Mari, I agree with the whole comment. Lovely example to us all who seek to photograph the sea this well.

Hello Mari. Another good one from Dunraven. Hoping to get down there this coming Tuesday now we can take the dogs on there.

Do you think it's fair that dog owners should ask for children to be banned from the beach October to April?

We do!!!!!!!!

Thanks Gerwyn, hmm well as a a person who's had children and dogs, I have to be a bit diplomatic here Wink I've also has been attacked and bitten by 2 alsatians (at the same time)on a beach, when I was minding my own business walking with my daughter in a pouch when she was a baby, their owners couldn't control them, so I think that as long as dogs are well trained and kept under control, and their poop is scooped, and the kids are well behaved, there has to be a place for both Smile (talk about sitting on the fence there lol) Hope you have a good shoot Smile

Thanks bigjim too Smile

Beautifully taken Mari. A well balanced exposure and very nicely composed.

I too have a dog and children (young adults now) since when did they become mutually exclusive on this countries beaches?

A superb sunset, Mari. How very well Peter ("PeterDSmith") has summed up the shot, and how much I have to agree with his remarks: truly beautiful work.
