Cairns...stones stacked up by people on their travels...who knows the stories of those who searched for the right stones which were flat enough to be stacked.
A long-standing tradition here in Norway, especially on mountain tops - or any high point, really - some places have dozens of them, all made by walkers or hikers, to mark that they had arrived at their destination, or at a stopping point on their way to somewhere else.
