Hi,

In a hurry so no long write-ups today sorry Sad

Just wanted to show you this as I was quite amazed. Look at these facts:

1/50th sec
f/5.6
300mm
ISO 640 !!!!

I don't quite know how I managed to keep it vaguely sharp (apart from the head) with a lens that has NO VR on it!!!

Jonah

Wow Jonah that is reasonobly good!
By Martinoes my house at break in aldenham, there was a Baby Kestrel flying around it was really small and cute so i watched it for half an hout or so just incase it fell! Just wishing i had my camera on me and i held it because it fell from his branch, so i gave it a helping hand, josh.

Jonah, thats sharp given the settings you given and not much noise for 640 ? ...................... So well done You..

You say " apart from the head " but feel your focus point was on the wing and not the head and that may be why !!

Yes that's what I meant Grin I didnt focus on the head anyway - but I am surprised the wings were so sharp handheld.

Also, not much noice for 640 ISO? Goodness the D70 is faring well - too bad I'm ditching it Sad for a D300s in a few weeks Sad I have loved my camera and don't want to stop using it (I think I will end up having it as a backup)

Really good image with those settings, you must have a very good technique for holding camera and lens.
