2/52 A Cold Start

By sherlob
Forgot to upload this to epz yesterday evening, although I did add it to other outlets.

Lockdown, shielding and a dog that is pinned to me 24/7 and who is only allowed to walk for 15mins is making me look more closely at the landscape that surrounds me. I'm not quite happy with the composition here, but I'm lucky to have this 5 mins from where I live - a very lovely sight on a frosty and foggy morning.

If anyone is interested in undertaking a 1/52 project (remember this can be started at any point in a year), you might want to join a Facebook group I've set up for sharing project work and encouraging one another. Search facebook for "1 of 52 projects" (I know links are not allowed here).

Best wishes,

Adam

It's good to look locally, and something I said I'd do more of even before the Lockdowns started last year.
A good thing with local is that if the light is promising you should be able to make the most of it and if the light goes you haven't potentially wasted a lot of travelling time.

I agree. However, an issue I hadn't appreciated was how prejudiced against aspects of my location I could be. E.g. in this image I can see that I should have framed it with more of the building on the right showing. I remember these being built and remember thinking how they "spoiled" the view. I think this prejudiced me against their inclusion in the frame - something I noted was a mistake only when viewing the image on the computer.

I have visited your group Adam, but as I have no such project to share so I have not tried to add my name...Great shot once again...

I reckon you're being hypercritical about one edge of the picture. I'd be tempted to crop tighter, even at peril to the tree, or do a little gentle cloning.

This is beautiful, though i reckon it would be even more so in monochrome, maybe sepia toned...

Thanks John. Aren't we always our own worst critics? I don't feel like I'm being hypercritical. It's just that I think the image would be stronger shifted to the right a little. The bonus I suppose is that with it being so close to my home - should similar conditions return - it won't be an issue to pop out and try again!
