20/52 Wild Pansy (Viola Tricolour)

By sherlob
A couple of days late, but last weeks image; I've been too busy decorating the kitchen.

This is stacked image using a Helicon FB Extension tube. The idea of this device is to enable rapid focus adjustments between exposures to enable hand held focus stacks. I've found flowers a problematic subject (its my first subject where I've tried the device) - mainly as a consequence of the movement in the flower from the slightest breeze. In this case the image was taken at F5.6 and the image is a stack of 15 images.

I'm not 100% happy with this - mainly because of the resulting stack. For example, the upper edges of the middle most petals are not sharp. I think this is twofold problem:

1. my initial focusing - not focusing carefully enough on the forward most element (right petal as looking at the image is slightly rotated towards the camera lens)
2. the focus stack software has not recognised the edge on the left petal edge.

Any tips?

Best wishes,

Adam
