250 Year Old Bonsai Tree

By mrsvee
Hi, Everyone.
This is fun.... sitting in a caravan in torrential rain..........
Whilst we are here in the West Midlands for a few days we went to Birmingham Botanic Gardens.
I took this photo of this 250 year old Bonsai Tree, it is a Juniperus chinensis in the informal upright style.
It is along with some others so valuable they are kept behind bars which are alarmed.
I was lucky the old man who was tending them invited me in to take some photos of them.
Comments and advice as usual are very welcome.
Vee.

I went there recently too, most of the specimens were behind bars to prevent theft/damage.

Wonder what the secret is? I killed mine off after three years ( mind you, I can't take all the blame- my pal looked after it when I was on holiday and the moggies tended to abuse it!)
Amazing age!
