Shortly after taking the shots of Goathland station in my previous upload, this train heading for Pickering pulled into the station. I just love these old wooden carriages, which have so much more character than the modern ones. Taken from the opposite platform, V1 & V2 were after the train had stopped, with V3 being taken a couple of minutes earlier as it was pulling in, and the slow-ish shutter speed of 1/40 provided a bit of movement blur to the nearest end of the loco and carriage.

Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw 7, tweaked in Photomatix Pro 4 and Photoshop Elements 11.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

V1 - It's the balance of the two little cameos, in the two windows. Love this.

The old trains knew how to combine beauty and function. I wish they still did it.
Great shots.

Yes, V1 for me too. I can imagine it linked to V2 though!
Really lovely tones here, Trev.

When I worked in the railway Trev,
we had a number of these old trains come in on a Saturday after a special excursion trip.
All very nice indeed but the wooden carriages always had a ''damp musty'' smell in them.
A quick blast of air freshener temporarily solved the problem though !!
Good shots.

The same technique works with musty old bats like me!

Seriously, three very nice shots of what seems to be a favourite location for you Trev.

An excellent collection, Trev - I love these images!
I bet the wooden coaches were veneered in teak - the grain pattern and figuring is so beautiful.
No favourite, they're all superb.Smile

So good that these old wooden carriages have been preserved in working order along with appropriate steam locos: there's nothing more evocative of days gone by than this.
A fine set and I rather like your capture in V 3 showing some indication of movement, Trev.
