50th Birthday

By AntHolloway
One from the final event marking the 50th birthday year of the Lovell Telescope. The telescope was used as a projection screen to show the winning entries in an art competition and we also put a few other images and logos up for good measure whilst the kit was on site.

As well as the projection we had some of the normal structure lighting on and I used D-Range Optimizer Level 1 on the camera to help balance the exposure. I took this up close and at the widest 10mm focal length to give the converging towers leading up to the dish itself.

Amazing image, how did you avoid creating any shadows ?

Hi Iain, the guy who put the images together tried to ensure the focus tower and its shadow sat in the '0', but you can just see the top of the shadow clips into the top of the 0.
