59 LI MK1

had the chance to photograph some scooters for a local scooter club last week,

as it happens i rode Lambretta scooters complete with loads of mirrors and lamps in the late sixties. i had a mk 2 LI 150 and a Slimstyle LI 150 later

"i was born a mod and i will die a mod" as Paul Weller said.

i dont think this particular LI 125 model was a good or popular choice of Lambretta lnnocentis italian production models, this one was in stunning condition though.

it seems to me there are lots of 125s left around and i think its because they were fairly undesirable in their day when the 150 was the main choice and there may have been more of these left in sheds.

the TV175 mk one was one of the smoothest engines and for me depite the obvious glamour of SX200 i still think the slimstyle TV200 GT was the best lambretta ever made,

get hold of a good original today and you could be sat on around 8k.

anyhow just for the indulgance im posting this 1959 beauty

It certainly looks in excellent condition, Phil, excellently captured here, too.

Think this example appears to have been modified as the Li 125/150 series1 models were not fitted with front suspension dampers. These were reserved for the Tv 175 models. although I have seen them retro. fitted to Ld models. Even the series 2s, with the headlamp on the handlebars that appeared about 1960, didn't have them.

Incidentally, my series 2 Tv 175 cost 124 in the late summer of 1959. As I recall the Italian price was 185,000 Lire, the equivalent of about 95.
