90th Surprise

The star of this piece is Dora; it was her 90th Birthday yesterday and a surprise party was held in her honour.

19 months ago her husband of 65-years died; this was a couple who never spent a moment apart - aside from the war. She misses him terribly.

Only a short while after this loss, Dora's eldest son, Roger, was diagnosed with Cancer and he then spent the subsequent 12 months in aggressive treatment. He lives some distance away, she requires daily care, and so most contact has been limited to the telephone

Imagine her joy at his arrival at her party.

The excited looking lady in the background is Dora's granddaughter and Roger's Niece.


Conditions in the pub weren't the best for taking photographs but hopefully you can see past the technical issues!

What fantastic expressions you have captured here. Along with the obvious joy of mother and sone I also love the delight of the lady at the back of the pub.
