A 'Lightbulb' Moment

By Acancarter
Inspired by a recent shot from Janet (chase) of a still life of old light bulbs, I tried this with modern bulbs. Incredibly, these work without being plugged in. Just to show there is no trickery or double exposures (honestly, there wasn't) the version has one of the other bulbs lit. If it wasn't for the pandemic I'd buy a beer for the first person to tell me how it was done...

Thanks for all the votes and comments on the little turtle hatchling yesterday. It was good to share a magic moment with you all.

On another planet, a long time ago I used to teach telegraphy and demonstrate how radio waves would travel by lighting up fluorescent tubes by tickling the radio wave across from a transmitter to the tube, this then lit up the tube with no visible connection.

Thanks Janet and Mike for your comments. I think a torch would have been much more your style Janet but I don't think modern bulbs in such an isolated setting would have been... inspiration flows from this site and its contributors, thank you! You aren't far off Mike - yes electromagnetic waves but not radio... Deep blue/ near UV (405nm) from a screen pointer laser, a free introductory from Wish. All the white LEDs start out UV and have a phosphor to convert to white. It is quite startling when you shine one of these lasers at one! (I can't recommend getting anything other than minimal power pointers... there are so many for sale that are not remotely eyesafe.... and would require automatic shutdown door interlocks for industrial use!)

And there was me thinking you were a master of the dark arts! So gullible...

Excellent and lovely tribute to the artist formally known as Chase!

Have a good day.

Very cleverly done, Andrew! I have a green laser, Which I've used for digital presentations, and often thought I could put it to some use like this, but feeling a bit inspired now! I also have a UV torch, which can create good effects, think I might upload one next... 😃👍
