A SeaLion Boom

By tonyguitar
Impossible to get the whole boom included.
When sea lions are feeding off shore, they like to lounge and bask after a good meal. To stay in the same zone they form booms by holding on to each other.

A boom refers to a big pod of logs held in place with a rim of logs chained to each other.

This boom near the floats at Fanny Bay is rare and was formed because all the space on floats and docks was taken up. So with no room left they decided to form a boom. In fact there were two separate booms. In this case they are full of herring.

That is exactly what they used to do out front of our house Tony. I just never had a long enough lens to get any good shots of them.
