A Big Meal.

By paulbroad
One of my little garden mates. They enjoy a bit of scone which I fix down with a big nail! Otherwise they pinch it! This is directly below one of my two bird feeding stations, which is obviously what attracts the mice. Nice to see them outdoors, but not in! I have traps set in the garage.

I buy cheap scones from Aldi - 49P for 8.

I've never heard of encouraging mice before. But, to capture a good shot like this, it's worth it.

I'll encourage most wildlife within reason, other than possibly rats - although when I'm fishing, I've been known to feed the rats at the waterside for a picture. It all depends on balance and most things have a place, but culling can also be needed when things go out of balance.

Cormorants are another one - nice to see at the coast but NOT inland.

Too many Magpies fr example, now there is less game keeping, they don't get shot and thy decimate the small birds, especially at nesting time. Too many foxes due to hunting bans and, again, keepers shooting them less. A game keeper friend, now retired, once told me he shot 110 foxes one year on his estate and could tell no difference!
